When you, your child, or your teen are experiencing difficulties at school, work, or home, a psychological or neuropsychological assessment can be an effective way to get some clarity and make well-informed decisions on what will help best moving forward. Our psychologists specialize in assessment of ADHD/ADD, Dyslexia and other Specific Learning Disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Giftedness, and cognitive processing differences.
A comprehensive assessment can be an opportunity to learn much more about yourself or your child, including areas of strength as well as specific challenges. It can often be a springboard for new growth and awareness, setting you or your child up for success in ways you may not have considered before.
Assessment Types
The TPACenter offers the following assessments:
All assessments are conducted by a Licensed Psychologist with a doctoral degree, or in the case of speech/language assessments, by our experienced SLP. Autism assessments are collaboratively completed with a psychologist and a SLP. Except in cases where we are supporting the training of future psychologists, our psychologists complete all of the testing and provide comprehensive reports that are clear, integrated, and practical so that recommendations can be realistically applied in multiple settings while being individualized to your needs. For every evaluation, we collaborate and obtain information from teachers, outside providers such as therapists or tutors, and other important people to the individual's life. The same psychologist will also provide a 1.5-hour feedback session to review the assessment findings and recommendations.
TPACenter is committed to providing an exceptional experience even for the youngest of our patients, and as such, each child and teen who completes a comprehensive assessment receives their own, developmentally appropriate feedback. Sometimes this in the form of a discussion or at other times, a short story is generated by the psychologist that can be read over between parents and kids after the assessment. We recognize and appreciate that we can often be the first contact that our smallest patients have with the helping professions, so above and beyond anything else, we take that responsibility seriously. We go the extra mile to not only get the tasks completed but to ensure that your child or teen has an enjoyable experience where they feel respected and heard, from start to finish. We also work to take on a limited number of evaluations so that each person gets individualized, personal attention, and is provided with sufficient time to show us their best work. Assessments are a "snapshot" of a person's functioning, so just like a photographer seeks to get the best picture they can of their subject, we strive to obtain the best, most valid estimate of how our patient is functioning across all domains.
While we cannot accept insurance (as insurance will not reimburse for the thorough and extensive nature of our assessments), we do offer simple payment plans and in some cases, reduced fee evaluations.
